Hot Air Balloon Festival

This weekend we took Lucy to the Hot Air Balloon Festival and Air Show in Midlothian.  It was only 112 degrees outside, but hey, who cares about the heat when you get to see your baby having So Much FUN.  Lucy loved running around, and LOOOOVED watching the ariplanes!  Every time one took off she would clap and yell 'Yay!!!!".  And here I thought the noise would scare her.  Geesh.  It was lots of fun (cherry limeaid overdose aside), and I am now as determined as ever to take my girls on a hot air ballon ride one day.  It's a special memory that I cherish from my Papa, and one that I hope to pass on to my daughters.

And look what Lucy made at school last week - how funny  : )

Lucy + Ben = BFFL

I recently found out that my daughter has a best friend at daycare named Ben.  I was surprised.  She had not told me anything about this...but then again, maybe she did - we don't actually know what she is saying most of the time.  So when the teacher made a comment about Lucy and 'her Ben', I was confused.  Her who?  Yeah, she has a BFF.  Apparently these 2 are inseparable.  They eat together, they play together, if another kid is messing with one of them, they stand up for each other.  All the teachers at the school know about 'Lucy and Ben'. When I asked Lucy why she never told me about Ben, her eyeballs about popped out of her head.  Like "MO-OM!"  Isn't she way too young to already be embarrassed by me in front of her friends??!

This is Ben....

Lots of hugs from the BFF's
 More hugs....
They wanted to see the camera....

Alexis wanted in on the hug action.  Ben is in there somewhere, lol.

Krackle!

What's Krackle, you say?  Why, it's this crazy-cool stuff that you apply over nail polish that causes it to shatter....and look 'kracked'.  Ti-ti (aka grandpa Tom) got Charley all stocked up on this latest nail fashion trend, and it's been a whirlwind of nail painting the past few days.  The results?  Some very cool looking fingernails, and one very happy 6-about-to-be-7 year old.  We love you Ti-Ti!

Lucy and her $50 shoes

No that's not a typo.  I spent $50 on a pair of shoes that will most likely only fit for the next 5 months, tops.   Fifty friggin dollars.  Most kids, when you go to the store, you have to go out of your way to avoid the toy isle.  With Lucy, you have to make damn sure you don't get anywhere near the shoe isle.  Did she want the $4 flip flops.  No.  The wicked awesome purple chuck taylor converse tennis shoes that were only $12?  Of course not.  She wouldn't even look at them.  After discarding a pair of Dora sneakers that caught her eye...she found the Sketchers.  And she was NOT leaving the store without them.  So I bought them.  And I stand by that decision.  My baby doll truly, truly loves shoes.  If it makes her happy....then it makes me happy, too.  Happy and broke.

Brownie Monster

You've seen Cookie Monster, right?  Goes insane when he is near cookies?  Well....he ain't got nothin' on Charley and her brownies.  She gets so dang crazy about them that I don't even like making them if she isnt around...it's just not as fun.  So anyway.  We made some brownies last night.  As is our tradition, she gets to lick the bowl.   And, despite the fact that she is almost 7....she reverts to being a messy, crazy two-year old as soon as that bowl gets in her hands. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I Can Play a Piano?

We finally made it out to the Worthington this weekend so I could get some work done, and it didn't take my husband + daughter long to find a piano and start hammering out some tunes.  Luckily, there were no meetings going on and no one to be disturbed, although I don't know if that would have stopped these two.   Lucy and Daddy played a brief duet and then Lucy kicked him off the bench.  Kwanjai was also briefly allowed to sit down.  Briefly. Now Michael says we have to start saving up for a piano.  And a house that has the room for a piano.

Dirty Rockin' Hillbillies

So, we LOVE Holy Moly.   Every morning, the girls start their day off singing along to Hardcore Werewolf - Lucy starts laughing within the first 3 notes of the song.  Charley and I have been known to break into acapella versions of Dance Floor, and Zombie in Denial...well, who wouldn't dig that song?  So after almost a year of being a HUGE fan, Holy Moly finally played a venue that we could take Charley to.  Not only did she get to hear all her favorite songs - live - she got to meet and talk to all the guys in the band.  Ohmygod.  It. Was. AWESOME.  And I am so happy that her first live show ever was Holy Moly and that they all took the time to make it something she will remember for the rest of her life.

 "Foo Fighters are AWESOME!"
Actually - Danny's face is awesome.

But, Joe Rose's mustache is glorious.

Joe Carpenter = bad ass drummer!

"Amy!  Joe Rose just walked by and touched my shoulder!" She must have told me this like 20 times before she went to bed last night.  Somebody has a major crush, lol.

Boot Stealin' Little Sister

Lucy loves shoes.  Always has.  While most toddlers are refusing to wear them, or kicking them off every chance they get, Little Lu is racing around the house stealing everyones shoes.  She loves flip flops, sneakers, slippers, boots.  She loves her own shoes, mommy + daddy's shoes, and most of all...she loves sisters boots.  How lucky are we that Charley is so kind and sharing and always lets her little sister 'steal' her shoes.
